Help us welcome 6000 new students!
As the long hot days of July creep by there are many hours being given by our church staff and their teams to get ready for all that will start in August. Plans however are dependent on the prayers and participation of all of us. As you pray for our church pray for our planning and for one another to be ready to take on another new season of “making wholehearted followers of Christ.”
A major way God uses us each year involves welcoming the approximately 6000 new students to our city and UGA. Our church is full of families that were first introduced to WFBC as college students. Also, our church staff has 6 former UGA students serving with us. I’m aware of at least a 100 former UGA/WFBCers serving in ministry around the world. Then there are untold numbers of students living for Jesus in their workplace and homes that called Watkinsville their church as a student. This river of people is wide and long.
Our first effort to reach these incoming freshman starts August 10. YES! August 10th is the BIG move in day. We have have been given the privilege of welcoming the 5 lower hill dorms on campus. Our primary responsibility will be to meet families and offer help moving their students in. We will be partnering with BCM and about 6 other Baptist churches. We will hand out a bag that will contain information about our church and other things that will help them as they get started at UGA. We will work in 3 shifts:
Anyone can help. We will send a church wide email early next week with a way for folks to sign up.
The mission field is coming to us. Let’s be ready Let’s GO!
I love you,
