“And they glorified God because of me.” Those words were recorded in Galatians 1:24 as a testimony of the apostle Paul’s life. Those could be the most significant words anyone could ever say about a person. And, those are the words that encourage my heart today as I remember the life of Kyra Carp Karr.

Both her life and now her death are bringing glory to God. Kyra died last week in an automobile accident near Cartersville. She was 31, the mother of three daughters (6,4, and 2), and the wife of Reid, a former staff member here at WFBC. She was a UGA grad, and she served with Reid the past six years in Rome, Italy, with the Southern Baptist Convention’s International Mission Board.

Kyra is an example of one of those students who flow through our lives here in Watkinsville because of UGA, on their way to the world in Jesus’ name. She was in our home a hundred times or more, loved our kids, served our church, encouraged my wife and set an example of a life surrendered to Jesus. She became dear to many in our church and community. And now I rejoice hearing reports already being given of those who have accepted Christ as their Savior since her death. People are glorifying God because of her. Amen and amen!

Kyra’s funeral was today at Tabernacle Baptist in Cartersville, GA. A fund has been established to honor her life and work in Italy.cYou can find that at

Please pray for Reid, Nolan, Ellie, and Livia. Pray for the multitude of people who have been touched by these events and that many will discover the hope of Jesus Kyra held to for life, death, and eternity.

Grieving with hope,
