An update from the SBC annual meeting from Pastor Carlos
Thank you for your prayers this week regarding the annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention. I'm thankful for the reminder of the importance of sharing the good news of Jesus with the world and humbling ourselves in prayer before our Heavenly Father. It was exciting to hear how God is working through the cooperation of SBC churches to take the gospel to the nations and to be a part of appointing and sending many new missionaries.
Specifically related to our church, please pray for our team of 6 college students led by Jerred Rogero who left this week from Phoenix for a Summer in Boston helping to plant new churches there in the city.
I'm also thankful that the SBC took time on Wednesday afternoon to vote on a resolution giving a strong clear word against the sin of racism. Although past SBC annual meetings have addressed the sin of racism, it was crucial to restate our biblical position once again publicly due to the rise of white supremacy groups in our nation over the past year. It was a powerful moment as the messengers in attendance affirmed that ALL people are created in the image of God and that Jesus came to save any and every person willing to repent and believe regardless of their race.
This coming Sunday I look forward to worshipping with you and preaching on Father's Day from Psalm 44. Also, make sure you are working to memorize Psalm 46 this summer.
I love you!
