One thing is necessary...
"One thing is necessary..." Those words spoken by Jesus in Luke 10 remind me how easy in life I can get distracted from loving Jesus with all my heart, soul, mind and strength. Using the message this past Sunday as a starting point I've been praying each morning, "Father, don't let the good things become bad things causing me to miss the one thing that must be the main thing." Would you start this week praying that prayer?
I've added to that prayer a commitment to begin each day in devotion to Him, to begin each week in worship of Him, and to begin the year in community with others seeking Him. Would you make that commitment with me?
Imagine how the Spirit of God might work in our life if that was our prayer each day over the next 12 months. Perhaps we can't even imagine what he might accomplish for His name.
Sunday we are back to a full schedule of services (9, 10:15, and 11:30) and in both rooms (10:15 Sanctuary and Life Building). In a world filled with a lot of hate I find the expectation of Jesus in His teachings that we seemingly must hate SOME people attention grabbing. Especially this is true with so much in his words about loving others. How do we hate AND love? Who are we to hate? According to Jesus we are to hate those whose initials begin with FMWCBS&S. We will see who those people are Sunday. I love you and I'm praying for you in this new year!
