Meet Chip Riggs!

HOW DID YOU COME TO KNOW CHRIST?

I was saved at the age of 7 at a summer Bible camp when a Chinese missionary to America clearly explained how I could know God and be with Him for eternity. Even at that young age I knew I needed to re- pent of my sins and place my faith and trust in Jesus, so I did! Ever since that hot summer day, I’ve known I was a child of God. Sadly, nobody discipled me and told me HOW to let Jesus live through me until I was 23 years old and went on a summer-long mission trip to the Phil- ippines. God tapped me on the shoulder and said, “You belong to me; now live for me.” Since then, I’ve given my whole life to sharing the Gospel with the world.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY.

Allison and I met during a worship service at First Baptist Woodstock (thank God for the “fellowship time!”). We’ve been happily married for 25 years. We have two sons: Zach, who is married to Corrie, and Daniel, who is married to Makayla. We are extremely blessed that our sons and daughters-in-law are following the Lord with all their hearts!

WHAT KIND OF THINGS WILL YOU BE DOING IN YOUR ROLE?

As Executive Pastor, I will be ensur- ing that the resources of the church are aligned to the mission of the church so that God’s vision is realized through the church. This involves serving our Pastoral Staff so they have what they need to accomplish their ministries, holding our staff accountable to the minis- try plans and objectives, and supporting Carlos so he can lead, teach, and shepherd all of us.

WHAT MAKES YOU EXCITED TO SERVE AT WATKINSVILLE?

Definitely the people! Watkinsville is a group of authentic Jesus followers. There is an es- prit-de-corps of true humility and joy here that is very rare today. That “uniqueness” is what God will use to expand His Kingdom at home and around the world. Allison and I are extremely excited about plugging into a small group and helping to make disciples. We can’t wait to meet everybody!
