Greetings from Rome, Italy! A team of 10 from our church have arrived in Rome to spend the week serving with Reid Karr. Reid and and his wife Kyra were part of our church family while students at UGA, and Reid also served on our staff for a year with our teens. They made their way to Southern Seminary in Louisville and on to Rome in 2009 to serve through the International Mission Board. Many of you will remember that Kyra, while home in 2015 on furlough, died when she and Reid were struck by an 18 wheeler near Cartersville, GA. Soon after Kyra's death, Reid returned to Rome where he is raising his 3 daughters (ages 8, 6, & 4) and continuing their assignment of church planting. This week, we will have the opportunity to work along side him and his team of church planters.
Two verses are very much on my heart this week from the book of Romans. The first is Romans 1:12 where Paul prayed that his faith and the faith of the Romans would mutually encourage one another. PRAY THIS WILL BE TRUE EVEN THIS WEEK BETWEEN US AND THOSELIVING FOR JESUS IN ROME.
The second verse on my heart is Romans 1:15, "So I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome." This verse will be fulfilled in my life this week as I will be preaching Sunday to a local gathering in Rome. We will have the joy of seeing 3 profess their faith publicly through baptism that day. Pray others will be saved this week as we serve and preach the gospel.
I love you!
